Tooling / Process Engineering Intern (6‑Month Internship)
Role: Tooling / Process Engineering Intern
Program Assignment: WAYS Career Path Program – Early Career / Internship Track
Internship Objective
Support the development of competitive tooling solutions and stable production processes, while gaining hands-on experience in industrialization and manufacturing environments. The intern will assist with process development activities and contribute to the smooth handover of processes to the production plant.
Description of Main Tasks
- Support the application of standard processes and process documentation
- Assist in the regular examination and continuous improvement of production processes
- Participate in development projects (e.g. new product portfolio initiatives)
- Support the optimization and further development of tooling concepts in line with technical specifications
- Assist in coordination and communication with tool suppliers in collaboration with senior engineers and GPS
- Contribute to the industrialization of customer projects, supporting the handover of stable production processes to the factory
- Support cost calculations, target costing activities, and basic data analysis
- Prepare documentation, process presentations, and reports for internal stakeholders
Additional Tasks
- Participation in team meetings and continuous improvement workshops
- Ad-hoc support for engineering and industrialization activities as required
Skills & Competencies
Education & Background
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a technical degree (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar)
- Prior internship, university project work, or practical experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is an advantage
Technical & Professional Skills
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and tooling concepts
- Interest in process optimization, industrialization, and production systems
- Familiarity with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); exposure to SAP or MS Project is a plus but not required
- Willingness to learn structured problem-solving and basic project planning methods
- Basic knowledge or interest in FMEA and quality processes is an advantage
Language Skills
- English: B1–B2 level (able to communicate clearly in a professional environment)
- Local language: B1–B2 level
