Job Objective

 

The Acoustic I Thermodynamic Engineer is responsible for managing, planning, supervising and the execution of acoustical and thermodynamical testing of materials and products within the product portfolio of the company. The position supports internal and external stakeholders with their expertise regarding material selection, results evaluation and general guidance for NVH products. Duties also include the participation in and/or leading of interdisciplinary projects with focus on acoustics/ thermodynamics. A close relationship to the OEM's counterparts is key.

 

 

Description of Main Tasks

 

•Participation or lead in interdisciplinary project work in relation to acoustic / thermodynamic issues

•Planning, organizing execution and evaluation of measurements, calculations and simulations including developing new methods and techniques

•Build and calculate simulation models to predict acoustical, mechanical or thermodynamical performance

•Advise and support internal and external stakeholders in acoustics/thermodynamics

•Build simple prototypes and support with material selection

•Identify potential for innovations, and initiate and conduct development project according to the timeline

•Support of sales organizations with internal inquiries and the acquisition of new orders

•Designing solutions and make proposals for acoustical or thermodynamical requests based on customer demands, drawings, specifications and other inputs

•Planning, organizing and execution of trainings and workshops

•Upkeeping of GOBENCH database

•Build up and maintain acoustical and thermodynamical know how by participating at NVH fairs, seminars, tech days, etc.

•Plan and execute vehicle benchmarks, evaluate and provide solutions for acoustical and thermal improvement

 

Skills & Competencies

 

  • Minimum educational level: Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 3 years of experience in an Acoustic/Thermal engineering in the automotive soft trim acoustic & thermal insulation industry.
  • Experience with technical acoustics, vehicle acoustics including knowledge of measurement equipment (Head Acoustics, Matelys, Sound Cam, Bruel&Kjaer)
  • Experience with industry standard measurement systems including alpha cabin (e.g. ISO 354:2003), impedance tube (e.g. ISO 10534-2, ASTM E1050 – 12) , STL (e.g. SAE J1400)
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, DVP or similar automotive standards
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and applications
  • Project Management competencies
  • Moderation, presentation and visualization
  • MS office, MS project
  • Preferably experience with CAE and CAD e.g  Comsol, Hyperworks, Actran, Auto SAE, AlphaCell, Catia, AutoCAD, Solidworks,…
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • English language on C1 - C2 level (person is able to express himself/herself spontaneously, fluently and precisely)
