Plant / Manufacturing Engineering Intern (3‑Month Internship)

Internship Objective

Support plant engineering and manufacturing activities during the industrialization and project phases, while gaining practical, on‑site experience in production processes, tooling, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Description of Main Tasks

  • Support the industrialization of new products, including process adoption, basic tool optimization, and start‑up preparation
  • Assist in analyzing product and process data to understand cost, efficiency, and manufacturing feasibility
  • Support root cause analysis of process, material, or tooling issues during the project phase
  • Act as a supporting interface between engineering functions (e.g. CPS) and plant operations
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on process stability and waste reduction
  • Provide on‑site support during tool launch activities, including coordination and documentation
  • Develop awareness of customer and quality requirements, including workplace design and layout principles
  • Assist with tool acceptance activities under supervision
  • Support the transfer and documentation of manufacturing know‑how (product, material, process, tooling)
  • Participate as a supporting member of customer project teams, assisting with manufacturing and operations topics

Additional Tasks

  • Gain familiarity with customer‑specific requirements and internal standards (e.g. CSR Matrix MP4.1DO07) as relevant to assigned tasks
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and process documentation for internal stakeholders

Skills & Competencies

Education & Background

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a technical education or degree (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar)
  • Technical vocational training or hands‑on workshop experience is an advantage

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing and production processes
  • Interest in plant operations, industrialization, and continuous improvement
  • Basic proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Exposure to SAP or manufacturing systems is a plus but not required
  • Willingness to learn problem-solving methods and structured improvement approaches

Language Skills

  • English: B1–B2 level (able to communicate clearly in a professional environment)
  • Local language: B1–B2 level

General Competencies

  • Proactive and eager to learn in a plant environment
  • Hands-on mentality with a practical approach
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in technical work
  • Basic cost awareness and efficiency mindset
  • Methodological thinking and openness to feedback
