Position Summary

The Senior Quality & EHS Systems Engineer is responsible for leading quality assurance, quality engineering, and occupational health & safety activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements, IATF 16949 standards, ISO 45001 requirements, and internal management systems. The role supports new product launches, serial production quality performance, process improvement initiatives, customer satisfaction, supplier quality development, and workplace safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Engineering & APQP

  • Lead APQP activities from product development through production launch.
  • Facilitate feasibility reviews and risk assessments during project development.
  • Develop and maintain Process FMEAs, Control Plans, Flow Charts, and PPAP documentation.
  • Manage special characteristics and ensure effective control strategies are implemented.
  • Coordinate Run-at-Rate activities and production readiness reviews.
  • Ensure timely submission and approval of PPAPs and customer deliverables.
  • Support customer-specific requirements and project quality milestones.
  • Lead internal process and product audits.
  • Coordinate requalification and validation activities.
  • Monitor plant quality KPIs and drive corrective actions.
  • Manage customer complaints, warranty issues, and supplier claims using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Lead Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) to reduce defects, scrap, and customer concerns.
  • Maintain inspection standards, control plans, and quality procedures.
  • Support calibration systems, MSA studies, and process capability evaluations (Cp/Cpk).
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer requirements.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
  • Lead accident investigations, near-miss analysis, and root cause investigations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement preventive actions.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable safety regulations and legal requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external EHS audits.
  • Support development of safety KPIs, management reviews, and improvement plans.
  • Promote a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
  • Escalate and support corrective actions related to significant safety risks.
  • Ensuring OH&S reporting on an internal (e.g. defined OH&S KPI's, regular management  Reviews) and external (e.g. NC reports for TÜV) basis.
  • Planning, coordination, and evaluation of internal and external OH&S system audits.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams using:

  • Develop lessons learned and best-practice deployment across projects and operations.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related technical field.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience with both project quality and plant quality systems.
  • Experience with customer-facing quality activities.
  • Experience supporting EHS programs and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven success in launching products and improving manufacturing quality performance.
